Drakensberge

It's day 16 of our tour through South Africa.

We made it to the Drakensberge. The scenery is breathtaking. The sandstone mountains remind me of the canyons in Arizona and Utah, but the grassland and the flowers look very much like the Austrian alps. Can't wait to climb one of those mountains.

Going South... gotta start packing

I'm currently living in some kinda twilight zone. My old employer META Group doesn't really exist anymore, at least our clients aren't calling. And Gartner hasn't started communicating who they want and when and where... So, instead of waiting for something to happen, I'll take the rest of March off and have the family spend the time in South Africa. I have started packing....

The technology alone fills a bag. I have to take my computer all the way down to South Africa, although I really didn't want to. But, although I could have lived without a single email for the next three weeks, current company issues obviously require that I check in every once in a while. Then again, facing a few thousand emails when coming back doesn't sound like a good idea either, so maybe it's good that I take it. Also allows me to download the pictures from the camera regularly, which is really important suddenly, because the guy I bought the large 4GB CF chip from at eBay, didn't mail it in time, so I'm stuck with 512MB, which won't last very long.

Then there are adapters, transformers, cables, batteries, more transformers and more cables. Luckily, they run on 220V down there, so all my gear will work, if in fact, the plug adapters work. This will also be the first test for my new SonyEricsson P910i. Hopefully, Vodafone coverage is there when I need it, that is, chased by an elephant, chewed on by a lion or else... But who would I call?

Gotta continue packing...

Welcome to the bbb

I finally got around to set up the blog. Bits and pieces of posts where floating around my old website and as unedited text blocks. Now the "bit blue blog" is up and running, and I hope that I'll have enough time to consistently write.
